Textiles have long served as conduits of communication, blurring the line between cloth and text. Text(ile) is a research-led project that reimagines the traditional needlework sampler as a way to critically address the ‘text’ and ‘textile’ relationship, and recognise the language/s adopted by makers. These stitched works explore the patterns within a textile-maker’s language, acting as a commentary on the relationship between maker, making and material.
