Master of Design

Working with New Zealand manufacturing company Kapinua, this research and development project was supported by Callaghan Innovation, and completed through the university’s Master of Design programme. This body of work looks at how digital technologiscan help create economically-viable, structurally customisable clothing patterns. Sixty seven, 3D-integrated garment styles were developed for the client over the duration of the programme. Through redesigning Kapinua's digital systems, this project suggests that modular models of production might just be a solution to many of the issues the apparel industry is currently facing globally.
