Skate shoes break. Therefore my project is a modular, sustainable skateboarding shoe. The shoe uses its aesthetic and functional qualities to match projected trends within the market and therefore entice users to choose the sustainable alternative over similar products in the market. The modularity within the shoe allows the user to switch out the sole when necessary, increasing the life cycle of the product. The form of the shoe has come from the need to minimise the amount of degradation that occurs to the shoe. The aesthetic is what keeps the shoe out of the landfill in the first place.
