Beyond waste: growing compostable tableware for a cleaner planet

"Boochi" is a sustainable tableware collection that is entirely made from bacterial cellulose.
The entire collection comprises cutlery and crockery that are based on the design of the serving spoon and plate, being linked via the same form language.
The collection of tableware revolves around the design of a serving spoon and plate that share a high level of interaction between one another.

My project investigates the material qualities of bacterial cellulose, and showcases its potential as a sustainable material in the area of product design. It focuses on the process of resource recovery by returning value to organic waste while promoting ethical resource and waste management. Additionally, it questions contemporary material culture and manufacturing practices in response to an alarming increase in global plastic and general waste pollution.
