Beginning as a novice quilter I undertook my first work (A Gift for My Nephew) in collaboration with my mother and sister. My work investigates the relationship between textiles and women in a historical and contemporary context, the positioning of crafts in the art world and the act of gifting in relation to a socially engaged art practice. Gifted Quilts further develop these concepts, extending beyond the art space into the homes of the people who these quilts were intended for.
