Bachelor of Design with Honours
Pop Couture is my debut collection which reimagines classic pop culture archetypes—The cowboy, the goth, the it girl, the skater, the beauty queen, the schoolgirl, and the bride—through a queer Filipino-New Zealand perspective. By recontextualising classic staples of popular media through a queer and cultural perspective, I challenge the conventional idea of these archetypal characters. I also exclusively use secondhand clothing and materials which is situated within my identity.
