My Studies are an examination of embodiment in dress, and the relationship between clothing and the body. The project also pays homage to Julia Kristeva’s Powers of Horror, exhibiting the abject nature of empty clothing. By manipulating posture through pattern making, creating gender through fabric and construction choices, and using organic materials where possible, I have tried to bring a sense of life and vitality to each shirt.
